OUTSTANDING FISHING AND WATER ACTIVITIES The Rocky Broad River is one of the greatest places to take a kid fishing! This river runs adjacent to Chimney Rock Village as well as the entrance to Chimney Rock Park. There is nothing as great as a North Carolina cottage rental in the Blue ridge mountains. In 1902 Dr. Lucius B. Morse purchased 400 acres to create Chimney Rock Park. Over the next several years he continued to purchace more land ending up with 8,000 acres. Chimney Rock Park overlooks the Rockey Broad River. In 1926 a dam was completed on the Rockey Broad river forming Lake Lure.
